Fourth of July Door Hanger

Add a bit of sparkle and color to your doorknob with this festive door hanger. Simple and easy to make, this is a fun project for the kids to help with. We used materials we had on hand, but any thread, ribbons, beads, or shapes in red, white, and blue would work great.

2 feet of red yarn

Four 1-2 foot lengths of white beading thread

Pony beads in red, white, blue, and gold

Small metal bells

Three 1-2 foot lengths of red, white, or blue ribbon

Red, white, and blue foam or felt stars

Glue

Detail of Fourth of July Door HangerWrap the red yarn around your hand to form a circle that is formed of four lengths of thread and tie the ends together to form a wide loop. Tie one end of the beading thread to the loop and add beads and the small bells in a favorite pattern. Firmly tie off the end of the beading thread. Repeat with the remaining thread, beads, and bells. Using the glue, add the a few stars to each length of ribbon. Let the glue dry, then tie the ends of the ribbons to the loop. Hang over a doorknob.
